The Fund – Federal regulated advantage

The Pioneer Development Fund (Aust) Limited is an unlisted public company registered as a Pooled Development Fund (“PDF”) under a program designed and implemented by the Australian Government to facilitate the supply of equity capital to Australia’s Small to Medium Enterprises. PDFs are companies that are registered under the Pooled Development Funds Act 1992 (“the Act”) designed to help protect investors and regulate operations. In return, PDFs benefit from tax concessions for investors and the fund itself.

The object of the Act is to develop and demonstrate the potential of the market for providing patient equity capital (including venture capital) to small or medium-sized Australian enterprises that carry on eligible businesses. To achieve this object, the Act establishes a scheme under which companies that provide this kind of capital can become Pooled Development Funds (PDFs) which entitles them to more competitive tax treatment.

 

Mauro Piccini
Chairman

Mr Piccini is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a member of the Governance Institute of Australia (GIA). He specialises in corporate advisory, company secretarial and financial management services. Mauro spent 7 years at the ASX and possesses core competencies in publicly listed and unlisted company secretarial, administration and governance disciplines. Mauro started his career in the Perth office of Ernst and Young (EY) where he spent several years in their assurance division.

 

Ronald Miller
Director

Mr Miller has over 45 years of international experience in natural resources associated business. Mr Miller’s experience involves leadership of integrated exploration, development and production units. Further, he holds experience in asset acquisitions and divestments, and corporate valuations and transactions. Mr Miller is currently a strategic advisor to an operator of a multi-billion dollar LNG facility in Australia. Mr Miller is currently a non-executive director of Redcastle Resources Ltd. and has previously held executive and non-executive director roles in ASX listed oil and gas companies. Mr Miller’s affiliations, education and training includes a MSc Engineering, BSc Ocean Engineering and MAICD as well as being a retired chartered engineer.


Gerard King
Director

Throughout his career, Gerard has practised in the legal areas of banking/finance, corporate compliance, mining law and commercial property. He served as company director of Australasian Shopping Centres Property Trust , Australian Mining Investments Ltd, as well as various other public companies. He was also Chairman of WA St John Ambulance Service and WA State St John Council.
